About Greek Temple Dogs
These sculptures follow in the ancient tradition of placing statues of animals at the entrances of temples and city gates. They serve to protect the community and to ward off trespassers. The Greek Temple Dogs are replicas of two Italian sculptures that flank the entrance to the Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italy.
