Embrace
2023
Steel and Mixed Media
“Good Vibrations” is a social atmosphere that generates an uplifting aura, which are only “good” when shared. Through a series of colorful arches that resemble an abstract representation of an open embrace and sound waves, our artwork invites visitors into its grasp, indicating that human and social interaction is necessary for creating good vibrations. We also reflect on the legacy of Marjorie Madden and how Marjorie Park was designed to harbor festivities, gatherings, and uplifting social atmospheres.

On View August 5, 2023 – June 14, 2024
Nine emerging artist interns came together over the summer, through our annual Design and Build Summer Internship Program, to collaboratively create several unique, site-specific installations for MOA’s Marjorie Park in only 8 weeks! Emerging artists worked under the direction of our 2023 Artist Fellow, Erica Rawson, and Resource Artist, Walter Ware.
The theme provided to the artists in 2023 was “good vibrations.” Join us for the opening reception and unveiling on August 5th, 5-8pm to see these unique installations throughout Marjorie Park.
