Burst

Burst
2023
Steel, Foam, Vinyl, Acrylic and LED

Burst turns the cupola into a container of good vibrations by capturing the sensation of expansion, climax, and internal growth. This takes the form of a balloon placed in the Cupola that is expanding to its limits to bulge through the window spaces; you can think of it as an action moment. The pinnacle of a good vibration is the moment before eruption when one feels the potential for something great to happen.

Design and Build 2023: Good Vibrations
On View August 5, 2023 – June 14, 2024

Nine emerging artist interns came together over the summer, through our annual Design and Build Summer Internship Program, to collaboratively create several unique, site-specific installations for MOA’s Marjorie Park in only 8 weeks! Emerging artists worked under the direction of our 2023 Artist Fellow, Erica Rawson, and Resource Artist, Walter Ware.

The theme provided to the artists in 2023 was “good vibrations.” Join us for the opening reception and unveiling on August 5th, 5-8pm to see these unique installations throughout Marjorie Park.

The creation of our 2023 projects were generously supported through a facilities partnership with the University of Colorado Denver, College of Arts and Media and Metropolitan State University of Denver. Artworks were created within the sculpture fabrication studios on Auraria campus.
