About Crosswalk

In 2020, the Museum of Outdoor Arts collaborated with the City of Englewood on several placemaking projects. This crosswalk was one of the projects and was designed by MOA 2020 Arts Fellow, AJ Davis.

AJ says this about his design… “Public art is meant to activate a space, bringing new life and vibrancy to the experience of being there. My design represents a vivid purple pallet symbolic of the night sky, highlighting a white crescent moon and its rings. The moon is a tribute to time, honoring each passing cycle and the potential it holds for change. The white rings echo the light of the moon and relate functionally to the white bars of a standard crosswalk. This design is created to be both feasible for an installation team as well as visually relatable and striking to community members of all ages.”
