Jeff Porter

Jeff Porter is the CEO and founder of Handbid, a mobile auction platform designed to help organizations engage with their audience via mobile devices. Jeff left his 15-year media and technology executive career to pursue his entrepreneurial passion for building a technology company. Handbid is the intersection of Jeff’s experience, desires, and personal activities.

While born in Colorado, Jeff grew up in the Washington DC area in Springfield, VA. He attended the University of Virginia, receiving a BS in Electrical Engineering with Distinction. After graduating, the lure of the Colorado ski slopes drew Jeff to Denver, where he took a job in the technology industry.

Jeff and his wife Kari have a child born with a rare genetic disorder, Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). The news was devastating at first, but they quickly accepted this new challenge. Two years after their daughter Abby was born, Jeff and Kari established the Prader-Willi syndrome Association of Colorado with a mission of helping other families in the Rocky Mountain region cope with the impacts of raising a child with PWS. Just a year after forming PWSA Colorado, Jeff joined the Board of the newly organized Foundation for Prader-Willi Research (FPWR).

Jeff still chairs the Board of PWSA Colorado and directs its program services and fundraising efforts. He left the FPWR Board in 2016 after serving for eleven years. Over that time, He and his family helped FPWR grow from $50,000 in annual fundraising to over $4m. Moreover, his family helped raise over $1m directly for FPWR. Jeff also founded South Denver Youth Baseball in 2009 and sits on the Boards of the Remnant and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Arapahoe County, CO.
