About Cherrelyn
Designed by our Design and Build alumni Natasha Vidger. The Cherrelyn horse car carried passengers up and down Broadway in Englewood from 1892 to 1910. At the time it was the only horse car that operated through both the use of gravity and horse power. The car gained fame due to the fact that on its return journey the horse rode the car and let gravity do the hard work. Natasha says, “I chose to depict this incredible moment in Englewood history, not only because of its integral part of Englewood history, but also because it was something my great grandmother witnessed and passed those memories on to future generations.”
The restored car is on view in the north atrium lobby of the Englewood Civic Center just outside of the library.
