About Bust of David

This marble bust is a reproduction of Michelangelo’s David (1501-1504), Accademia, Florence, Italy. Michelangelo’s David stands in a Classical Contrapposto pose, his muscular stance in parallel to his strong emotional presence. The artist’s original intention was to place David high above viewers; Michelangelo distorted certain body parts such as the hands, head, and upper body to account for the drastic point of view.
