Spring in Wonderland, Down the Rabbit Hole!
Spring 2017Located at MOA's Marjorie Park
MOA has converted the above pictured Victorian architectural element, located at our Marjorie Park location at Fiddler's Green, to a new art diorama. This new exhibition space is a unique, creative space that will feature seasonal window displays for all to enjoy.
About the Display
"Spring in Wonderland, Down the Rabbit Hole!" by Scott M. Soffa & Benjamin Pound, SMS Studio - Denver CO
In an illustrative style on board, this 8' x 14' diorama is inspired by many classic images from the story of Alice and her adventures, this fantasy diorama is from Alice's first person perspective as she tumbles down the rabbit hole along with furniture, books and trinkets. Down, down, down- below a bright blue sky- sparkling crystals embedded in the earth shimmer and change colors.
The original bronze maquette "Mad Tea Party" by Harry Marinsky (1994) is the focal point of the scene. You can view the full scale bronzes by Marinsky along with the rest of the "Alice in Wonderland" series in Marjorie Park located just behind the diorama.
What you hear as you view the installation is the complete unabridged book "Alice In Wonderland" as read by Australian actor Cyril Ritchard (1 December 1898 – 18 December 1977) recorded in the late 1960's for Wonderland Records. Additional music on the 6 long playing vinyl album set is by Alec Wilder. The set was packaged for Radio Shack.
This is the third in a series of seasonal displays planned for the new diorama.
This exhibition is generously supported by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.
