About Cupola

Although little is known about the individual history of this Cupola, domes have an ever-present stature in the canon of architecture. Whether Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey, the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, the Pantheon in Rome, Italy, St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, England, or the United States Capital building in Washington D.C., domes hold strong symbolism in both Eastern and Western art. Its structural strength often translates both spiritual and imperial force in a monumental way.
